There are a plethora of promotional pens available for custom imprint. So, how do you know which one will “fit” your marketing needs?
Here are 3 tips to picking the perfect promotional pen:
#1:
Start by the type of pen:
- Stick
- Click
- Twist
These are the basic categories. The stick type is a two-piece (barrel & cap). The click and twist are one piece. The click is popular among professions to determine stress levels. The theory being that the more you click, the higher your stress level. I don’t know if this is true or not, but I do notice that I tend to click, click, click these puppies when I’m using them. I always thought it was because it was fun (but maybe I’m lying to myself?).
#2:
The next decision would be if you need to go with a name-brand. Like BIC, Sanford, Pentel, etc. This will largely be determined by the recipients of the pen and whether or not they will even care; or check, to see if the pen is from a recognizable manufacturer.
Quality, in my experience, is subjective. I have clients that will swear to you the off-brand that they buy is comparable to any name brand. Better, in fact, because the cost is about half as much. Which brings me to the next point.
#3:
Cost. If you determine that you need to have a brand-name pen know that it will cost more than an off-brand pen.
Why pens as a promotional vehicle? Because they travel ‘at will’. They are left behind, ‘stolen’, dropped, and borrowed all over. From coast-to-coast. I personally, will leave my pens behind any place I use one myself. Like: Grocery store, restaurants, retail stores, even the post office. If there is a pen jar on the counter I pull out a handful (I keep a good supply in purse at all times) an shove them in. Okay. maybe not ‘shove’ but you get the idea.
How do you ‘distribute’ your promotional pens?
